What should I expect when I come to worship on Sunday morning? St. John’s is a very relaxed and social congregation. No matter which door you come in you will be happily greeted by a member of the church who can help you find your way to worship or Sunday school. Sunday School is offered for all ages and we will be delighted to show you to a class that will fit you the best. Feel free to try out as many classes as you’d like until you find the one that feels like home. When coming to worship you will have your choice of 8:30 sanctuary worship or one of the 11:00 services. 8:30 and 11:00 in the sanctuary are pretty much the same although 8:30 is just a bit more informal. At the 11:00 hour you can choose between a more traditional setting with organ, hymns, and robes or a very upbeat, jeans wearing kind of worship in the fellowship center. Each is a very faithful expression of God’s gifts to our community as those in our church share the graces of God through arts, music, and preaching.

Children are more than welcome in any of our services! Your children are welcome to stay with you for the entire worship service or if they are Kindergarten thru 2nd grade they can head to children’s church after the children’s message in the 11:00 services. For children younger than Kindergarten, we have an excellent nursery with well-trained adults there to care for your little ones. You will be given a pager when you drop them off so that you can be reached at any time. Please note that our church abides by the Safe Sanctuary rules with two adults in each class room at all times. We go out of our way to keep our children safe and happy.

One more note — between the first service and Sunday school, at 9:30am is one of our favorite times as a congregation. We gather together in the fellowship center informally, drinking coffee, eating bagels and sometimes other sweets! It’s a great way to get to know one another or just enjoy being with old friends.
