MUSIC MINISTRIES
Chancel Choir The Chancel Choir is a group of committed singers of all ability levels who lead worship at the 11:00 traditional service each week. If you’ve sung all your life and are looking for a challenge or if you’ve always wanted to sing in a church choir and never felt welcome this is the place for you. This group is open to ages 14 to 100 and is definitely not your average stuffy church choir! Just a group of really great folks who love making music together for worship. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings 7:00-8:30pm.
8:30 Informal Choir The 8:30 Choir is made up of adult singers of all ability levels committed to leading worship at the 8:30 traditional service each week. Currently all adult choir members of either 8:30 or 11:00 come to rehearal on wednesday nights. The music is usually the same in both services and the choir members have a great time rehearsing all together on Wednesday evenings 7:00-8:30 pm. This choir does not wear robes for worship.
Instrumental EnsembleWe have various groups of instrumentalists forming ensembles and beginning to lead worship. We are looking for anyone who can play strings, brass, percussion, or woodwinds to join us. All ability levels welcome and all ages from 7th grade through professional adults are invited to participate.
Children’s ChoirsChoirs are offered for ages 3 years old through 5th grade. Rehearsals are during the school year on Wednesdays from 5:30 - 6:15pm. Kids are involved in learning great music, leading worship at least once a month, and a doing musical each year for the community. We teach music as a gift from and a way to worship God. We believe that even the youngest worshipper can lead us in praise of God on Sunday mornings!
Childrens choir is starting up again real soon! We have a new brochure and registration that you can print out and bring in the first day!

Relentless (Youth Choir)Relentless is the youth choir of St. John’s UMC. It is a brand new choir as of Summer 2009 and we are all excited about what we’ll be able to do this year. The choir currently is open to youth of any age — 6th through 12th grades. We practice sunday afternoons at 4pm before youth group. This year we plan to sing in worship once a month, take a couple road trips, and go to a festival at Myrtle Beach in the Spring. The director of the choir is Carrie Wright and our accompanist is Caroline Cooney. On our blog you can find weekly updates on what the choir is doing, music to listen to, pictures of latest events, and any other info you are hunting for. www.relentlesschoir.com
HandbellsThe Joyful Ringers is a group of high school and adult ringers who have all different levels of experience. The parts are filled at the beginning of each year but there is always room for more or the option of starting a new bell choir with other ringers. If you’ve played bells before or if you think you’d like to learn you are welcome to participate! The Joyful Ringers currently meet on Tuesday evenings, 6-7pm for rehearsal.
Advanced HandbellsThe advanced handbell group is a small ensemble of those who have experience ringing bells and reading music. The music is often fast paced, challenging, and creative, using various bell techniques. We hope to in the future expand this group to be a full bell ensemble. Anyone interested in playing should contact Carrie Wright. High school students and adult are welcome. Rehearsals are at 7pm on Tuesday evenings.
Non-Traditional MusicWorship leaders, singers, sound technicians, and audio/visual persons for the 11:00 non-traditional service are always needed! The team is looking for those that can sing, play an instrument, or run media and are interested in participating on the worship team for this service. Particular instrumentalists needed are guitarists, bassists, and keyboardists. Rehearsals are Mondays beginning at 7pm. Contact Mike Jeter for more info! mike@redchairmusic.com
